The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) which was founded in 1978 is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions. What is JAMB CAPS?

JAMB CAPS is an acronym for JAMB Central Admissions Processing System. This is a new inventive by JAMB to regulate admission. Just as the name implies, It’s a central unit where all the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) admission exercises are being automate and carried out for all candidates. On JAMB CAPS portal, candidates can either accept or reject their admission on CAPS. Once a candidate accepts his or her admission quest on JAMB CAPS, automatically, it marks the end of admission process for such candidates for that academic year which means that such candidate will not be considered for admission in any other school for that academic year. On that same page, Any candidate who rejects his or her admission will be placed in the market place. This means the candidates details will be sent to schools that needs such candidates slots for admission consideration.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is a platform created to ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process in Nigeria.

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’

  2. Go to JAMB E-facility portal at CLICK HERE.
  3. Enter your Email Address and Password in the space provided to login.
  4. Then locate and click on ‘Check Admission Status on CAPS‘.
  5. Or Select ‘Admission Status‘ on the left panel.
  6. Locate and Click on Access my CAPS.
  7. You will either see admission in progress check back later, or NOT ADMITTED, or CONGRATULATIONS..
  8. Lastly, you can now accept/reject your admission offer under ‘Admission Profile’.

Note: If you are using a phone, you may not see the option to check your Admission Status on CAPS. Most phone users may only see the welcome message. The caps page shows only welcome because it requires you to use desktop mode to view the complete page. This is why the chrome browser is recommended if you are a using a phone. All you need to do is go to Chrome option and choose request desktop site for the complete page to display as explained below:

  1. Open your chrome browser or any other but it’s better you don’t use Opera Mini.
  2. Go to CLICK HERE.
  3. Login with your registered Email and Password.
  4. Locate and click on ‘Check 2019 UTME/DE Admission Status on CAPS‘.

JAMB CAPS Admission Terms You Need To Know.

When you check your admission status on JAMB CAPS portal, you will either see ADMISSION IN PROGRESS or NOT ADMITTED, or CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED PROVISIONAL ADMISSION”. which ever one you see. Now let’s quickly explain what those JAMB CAPS Admission Terms means or stands for.

  1. If you see  “NOT ADMITTED”: Please neither panic nor lose hope. It just means that you haven’t been considered for Provisional Admission yet probably your school of choice have not started their admission process for that particular academic session. So all need to do in this situation is to continue checking the CAPS portal regularly. Please note that you must not stop checking until admission for 2019/2020 is over. It’s not over till it’s over.
  2. On the other hand If you see “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS”: Here, it  means that you have been considered for Provisional Admission. not only that you have been considered fpr admission but you also have a high chances of seeing “CONGRATULATIONS…” There is a 97% chance that if you see this, you should consider yourself admitted already because it will definitely change to “ADMITTED” . However, you are advised to keep checking the portal as the admission is being uploaded in batches. Just check back after some days/weeks. Admission Status may change anytime.
  3. Lastly, if you see “CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED PROVISIONAL ADMISSION…  Waoh!  Then, It means you have been offered a provisional  admission.
